4.1 As of January 1, 2006 mileage will always expire in the month when the Smiles member enrolled in the Smiles Program.
4.2 Miles in the participant's Smiles account shall remain valid for 3 (three) full years, as from the month in which they are earned and lapse in the month corresponding to their enrollment in the Smiles Program.
4.3 The mileage so expired on the last day of the member's enrollment month will be automatically excluded from the Smiles account balance.
