5. Cards

5.1 There are 4 (four) Smiles card categories: Blue, Silver, Gold and Diamond.

5.1.1 A member qualifies for a Blue card when accumulating up to 19.999 (nineteen thousand nine hundred ninety-nine) miles or when taking 24 (twenty-four) flights within a period of up to 12 (twelve) consecutive months (current month excepted).

5.1.2 A member qualifies for a Silver card when accumulating between 20.000 (twenty thousand) and 49,999 (forty-nine thousand nine hundred ninety-nine) miles or when taking from 25 (twenty-five) to 59 (fifty-nine) flights within a period of up to 12 (twelve) consecutive months (current month excepted).

5.1.3 A member qualifies for a Gold card when accumulating between 50.000 (fifty thousand) and 99,999 (ninety-nine thousand nine hundred ninety-nine) miles or when taking from 60 (sixty) to 99 (ninety-nine) flights within a period of up to 12 (twelve) consecutive months (current month excepted).

5.1.4 Member qualifies for a Diamond card when accumulating 100.000 (one hundred thousand) miles and over or when taking 100 (one hundred) flights and over within a period of up to 12 (twelve) consecutive months (current month excepted).

5.2 Only Club Miles flown on VRG Linhas Aéreas on flights operated by the brands GOL or VARIG, or on its Air Partners are eligible for Smiles card categories pursuant to specific agreement between VRG Linhas Aéreas and the relevant air partner company. No Bonus/Partner Miles will be taken into account for such purpose.

5.3 Special category cards (Silver, Gold and Diamond) are valid during the year of acquisition plus a period of 15 (fifteen) months. Members who do not accrue the required amount of Club Miles or do not take the necessary number of flights to maintain their current category during the last calendar year of the card validity (from January through December) will have their card reclassified to the next lower category. Members who accrue the miles required to maintain their current category will have their card renewed for one additional year.
