(*) The value of the fare rate of an air travel ticket is defined according to the policy of VRG Linhas Aéreas and is contingent upon the mandatory deduction of miles from the Smiles account of the participant. The Smiles Upgrade schedule and the value of the ticket rate are subject to change without prior notice.
General Conditions:
1. Smiles Upgrade awards are one-way tickets and will only be used on VRG Linhas Aéreas S/A flights operated by the brands GOL or VARIG carried out by those companies' aircrafts. These awards are issued in exchange for valid miles accumulated in the Smiles Program at the time that the award is issued according to this regulation.
2. Smiles Upgrades are not transferable and not endorsable; they can be requested in the name of the participant him/herself or to third parties that this person indicates. To redeem this award, a reservation must be confirmed in the specific class intended for the Upgrade Smiles.
2.1 Upgrade Smiles is contingent upon the payment of one fare rate for promotional economy class ticket and is discounted from the miles according to the Award Schedule of these Regulations for travel in the Comfort class.
3. Miles will be credited according to the class actually flown.
4. Stopovers are not allowed (any intermediary stop between departure and destination).
5. As many as 4 (four) connecting flights between the departure and destination will be permitted. They shall be acknowledged as connections when there is a layover between one flight and another 4 (four) hours long.
6. Smiles Upgrades are not allowed on Smiles Program air partner companies.
7. Smiles Upgrades are valid for one (1) year as from the issuance date and are not extendable.
8. Reservations and issuance of Award Tickets may only be made directly with Smiles Call Center and with VRG Linhas Aéreas stores by the brands GOL or VARIG. No reservation or issuance made through any other agents will be acceptable.
9. When booking for Comfort class, members will have to inform the office assistant that it is a Smiles Upgrade.
10. Reservations are subject to seat availability in the specific class . When making reservation of an Upgrade Smiles, members may note that, although the flight is not fully booked at Comfort class, the award may not be available. VRG Linhas Aéreas, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to limit the number of seats available for Upgrade Smiles travels on flights operated by the brands GOL and VARIG.
11. Payment terms of promotional rates linked to the issuance of an Upgrade Smiles can be requested through the Smiles Service Center and the VRG Linhas Aéreas stores, identifed by the brands GOL or VARIG .
12 . Blackout periods for Upgrade Smiles on VRG Linhas Aéreas flights operated by the brands GOL or VARIG may be changed, suspended or introduced at the discretion of VRG Linhas Aéreas without prior notice.
13. Change of Reservation / Rerouting / Reimbursement
13.1 Change of reservation after issuance of the Upgrade Smiles One Way ticket
Any change concerning flight and date, but keeping same origin and destination, may be requested during unused Upgrade Smiles validity, through the Smiles Call Center or at the VRG Linhas Aéreas stores, identified by the brands GOL or VARIG by members themselves or a representative of theirs (holding personal documents of the member) upon confirmed reservation in a specific class and payment of the fee in the appropriate current amount. The original validity term of the Upgrade Smiles – shall be maintained on re-issuance of the ticket for the new flight and date. The validity of the Upgrade Smiles updated according to the new flight and date shall be the same as the original issuance . Information regarding required documentation and the value of the administrative fee for changes in flight/date can be acquired from the Smiles Customer Service Center .
13.2 Change of Itineraries . Changes in itineraries are defined as flight requests for change of origin and/or destination. Route changes can be requested during the validity of unused Upgrade Smiles, through the Smiles Customer Service Center or the VRG Linhas Aéreas stores, identified by the brands GOL or VARIG by the participant or his/her representative (in possession of personal documents of the participant) on the basis of confirmed reservation in the class specified and payment of a rate in the current amount at that time. The change in route may result in a higher difference in the economic class fare rate and payment of this amount must be added to the amount of the administrative fee. If the change implies in a lower rate, this will be reimbursed to the payer . Validity of the Upgrade Smiles updated according to the new route shall be the same as that of the original issuance. Information regarding required documentation and the amount of the administrative fee for changing the itinerary can be obtained by contacting the Smiles Customer Service Center .
13.3 Reimbursement - Reimbursement can be requested for unused Upgrade Smiles – based on payment of a fee at the current amount at that time. , within the validity term thereof and the reimbursement is dependant upon the amount paid for the rate applicable to the issuance of the Upgrade Smiles. Only valid miles will be returned to the Smiles member account. Reimbursement may be requested through any Smiles Call Center or the VRG Linhas Aéreas stores, identified by the brands GOL or VARIG by members or a representative of theirs (holding personal documents of the member). Information on mile validity, the necessary documents and the amount of the reimbursement administrative fee may be obtained from the Smiles Call Center .
The Smiles Program Regulations shall come into effect on October 19, 2008 (inclusive) as a product of VRG Linhas Aéreas, in replacement and cancellation of the prior regulations.
