Redemption rules:
ONE WAY SMILES TICKETS - RULES
1. To issue One Way Smiles Tickets from partner airlines involving different class parameters from the one-way awards charts, the award will be based on the higher amount of miles.
2. One stopover will be allowed within the destination region, as long as it is not a purely domestic flight within any country or when the trip involves only countries in Europe. Stopover: an intermediary stop between origin and destination.
3. It is not permitted to route the same city more than once in one direction of the itinerary (side trip). A separate ticket shall be issued for the side trip.
4. Backtracking is not permitted. Connection points must be on direct routes.
5. One way Smiles Tickets from partner airlines will be issued for one route only, and may have 2 (two) routes when it is possible to involve a stopover. A maximum of three connections will be permitted.
6. There is no embargo period for One way Smiles Tickets from partner airlines on partner airline flights, and tickets may be introduced, modified or suspended as per the company's discretion without notice.
7. Date change our rerouting for trips with the same award value. When a physical ticket is involved no changes will be permitted. In case of an unused electronic ticket, date change and/or rerouting will be permitted up to 6 (six) hours before the flight, through the Smiles Service Center by the solicitant Smiles member, who must be positively identified through electronic validation of Smiles card number and password and have a confirmed reservation in the specified class and provide payment of administrative fee. The validity of the updated One way Smiles ticket will be the same as the original ticket.
7.1 Date change or rerouting for trips with different award parameters, with greater or lesser values in miles: When a physical ticket is involved no changes will be permitted. In case of an unused electronic ticket within its validity period, changes will be permitted and Smiles member shall request a refund through the Smiles Service Center and issuance of a new ticket with the updated award value.
8. Refunds
It is permitted within the validity period of the ticket and before the commencement of the trip, through the Smiles Service Center by the solicitant smiles member, who must be positively identified through electronic validation of Smiles card number and password and provide payment of administrative fee. Only the valid miles will return to member’s account. In this situation, when there is a physical ticket, member must send the ticket to the Smiles Program through registered mail or other safe means for the ticket to be refunded. Valid miles will return to member’s account upon receipt of the ticket and boarding taxes will be refunded within a 60 day period as of ticket receipt date.
ROUND TRIP SMILES TICKETS - RULES
1. To issue Round Trip Smiles Tickets from partner airlines involving different class parameters from the one-way awards charts, the award will be based on the higher amount of miles.
2. Up to 2 (two) stopovers will be allowed within the destination region: one going to destination and one returning from destination, as long as it is not on a purely domestic flight within any country or when the trip involves only countries in Europe. Stopover: an intermediary stop between origin and destination. Connections will be permitted no more than 2 (two) times at the same city on a single trip.
3. It is not permitted to route the same city more than once in one direction of the itinerary (side trip). A separate ticket shall be issued for the side trip.
4. Backtracking is not permitted. Connection points must be on direct routes.
5. Round Trip Smiles Tickets from partner airlines will be issued for up to 4 (four) routes, and may be going to or returning from destination or any kind of Open jaw (single or double), Tickets with 4 (four) routes may be issued only when it is possible to involve a stopover.
Open Jaw: a trip in which the traveler returns from a city other than the one he or she arrived. Open Jaw tickets can be:
Single – when trip starts from city A to city B and returns from city C to city A, in other words, the final destination is the same as the origin.
Double – when trip starts from city A to city B and returns from city C to city D, in other words, the final destination is also different from the origin.
6. There is no embargo period for one way smiles tickets from partner airlines on partner airline flights, and tickets may be introduced, modified or suspended as per the company's discretion without notice.

In case of an unused electronic ticket, date change and/or rerouting will be permitted up to six hours before the flight, through the smiles service center by the solicitant Smiles member, who must be positively identified through electronic validation of smiles card number and password and have a confirmed reservation in the specified class and provide payment of administrative fee. The validity of the updated Round Trip Smiles Ticket will be the same as the original ticket.
7.1 Date change or rerouting for trips with different award parameters with greater or lesser values and miles:
When the physical ticket is involved no changes will be permitted. In case of an unused electronic ticket within its validity period, changes will be permitted and smiles member shall request a refund through the smiles service center and issuance of a new ticket with the updated award value.

Important:
● Smiles Members flying on partner airlines may not use VIP lounges of these airlines.
● Benefits such as “excess baggage” or “preferred guest” for Silver, Gold or Diamond cardholders do not apply for partner airline flights.
● Ticket awards redemptions for Air France/KLM will commence August 18th 2009.
● Ticket awards redemptions for American Airlines will commence November 11st 2009 (date subject to change).
